This and That | Tuesday March 29th, 2011
Today, I witnessed a scene at the subway station of Kottbusser Tor in Berlin which is familiar to me, but that I had yet not seen for a long time. What I am referring to is the long green line on the ground on this picture. When I first arrived in Berlin, I kept wondering why all cleaners in the subway were tracing such a line when they cleaned the floor. I had never seen anything like that in the Paris subway. I was always astonished at the straightness of this line. I thought that it must be due to German precision! I never really understood the point of such a cleaning method consisting of tracing lines of green powder on the ground in Berlin, but it must be efficient as it subsists over time!
