Welcome to Chapter 1 of the 15-part online course “Innovative Film Making” of HFBK Hamburg within the framework of the Hamburg Open Online University (HOOU). “Innovative Film Making” (IFM) is a project of the Experimental Film Division at HFBK Hamburg under the guidance of director Prof. Robert Bramkamp.
In this chapter, Professor Bramkamp uses the video installation “Angels in Chains” by Susanne Weirich to show how the narrative becomes as complex and multi-dimensional as the space in which it is staged through polyphonic narrative instances, typecasting, temporal overlay and the dissolution of authenticity boundaries through reenactments. The artwork “Angels in Chains” can also be seen in the film “Art Girls”, a real installation by the fictional artist Nikita Neufeld. Here the link to the IFM course.
