For the first time in Germany, the films of the Warsaw based Wajda Studio are online and available on www.realeyz.tv. Poland is synonymous with the names of many outstanding directors, cameramen and actors. Unlike no other, Polish master director, Andrzej Wajda has dominated Polish cinema and is internationally renowned.
In 2001, Wojciech Marczewski and Andrzej Wajda founded Wajda Studio, which have produced more than 50 films and documentaries; produced and co-produced over 200 short films, many of which have been shown at international film festivals, including the Berlin Film Festival, San Sebastian, Karlovy Vary or DOK Leipzig, some films were awarded prizes.
As an online premiere, the video-on-demand platform www.realeyz.tv is showing a selection of artistically diverse films from Wajda Studio. In Grzegorz Zariczny’s THE DOG HILL, four men meet in the wilderness and have to spend six months living with each other in a shepherd’s hut. All of them have very different views on life and clash violently, agreeing on one thing only: womanizing. Music as therapy plays an important role in DECRESCENDO, which takes place in a residential home for the elderly, where a young therapist tries to fathom the meaning of his own life. THE UNDERGROUND MAZOWSZE WEEKLY, is a fascinating documentary about one of the leading underground magazines in Poland, during the turbulent period of martial law in the early 1980s. Marcin Sauter’s BEHIND THE FENCE achieved high acclaim beyond Poland’s borders.
