What’s better than any TV Cooking show out there? “Estômago”, the Brazilian film about sex, power and food playing at the Haus der Kulturen der Welt this Friday in Berlin.
Directed by Marcos Jorge
Brazilian documentary from 2007, 112 min, original version with English subtitles.
Everything you always wanted to know about better cooking and improving culinary experiences:
In the “great restaurant called life” there are those who eat, and those who get eaten. Raimundo Nonato has found an alternative way: he’s started cooking. First in a dive of a bar, then in an Italian restaurant, and finally in prison – where he learned to keep his head above water in a society that is radically divided between the haves and have-nots. Estômago (“stomach”) is a fairytale for adults about power, sex and the all the cooking that goes on in-between. Estômago, the big winner at the Rio Film Festivals 2007, won 4 awards: best film, best director, best actor and the special grand prize of the jury.
