Berlin Diary: What’s In a Sign?

Berlin, bitterly cold in February. Although that deep blue sky could easily fool you into thinking that it’s summer or early autumn. The wind cut so cold in open stretches of Görlitzer Park that even the camera went on strike. And I thought electronics liked cold….

Someone must have taken offense at that sign. It reads in German “Grillplatz bitte sauber halten” (please keep the grill area clean). There’s some nasty multilayered tags sprayed over it. The yellow clashes hard with the black, purple, red and white graffiti. Why the intense disrespect for the sign? Maybe it has to do with the object further down the sign post seen here –
