And here’s an in-depth conversation between director Robert Bramkamp and film critic Georg Seeßlen about the film’s themes: genre, disaster pics, collective intelligence and the future of cinema.

Speaking of the future of cinema: Robert Bramkamp will join leading filmmakers, critics and theoreticians at the Academy of Arts for an evening of script readings, statements and debates about the state of film in Germany. Titled „It Works“ (Es funktioniert), citing the most common validation of at least a mainstream film, the evnts brings together a broad spectrum of personalities – from award-winning actress Katja Riemann and director Oskar Roehler to „Berlin School“ proponent and critic Christoph Hochhäusler and Berlin indie filmmaker Tatjana Turanskyj, also one of the iniators of the ProQuoteRegie iniative for more gender equality in the film industry. Bramkamp will propose what he thinks is missing in German cinema(s) today. On November 6, 2015, starting at 6 p.m. at the Academy of Arts, Pariser Platz.
